10 Wrestlers Who Absolutely Love Annoying Fans
9. KENTA
Japan’s most hated wrestler relaunched his once flagging career last year thanks to a truly shocking heel turn. After years of struggle in WWE’s developmental system, KENTA returned to his homeland for a good (but not exactly great) run in last year’s G1 Climax. Presented as a noble veteran babyface, KENTA received scorn from crowds throughout who seemingly had no interest in the former NOAH ace.
Eliminated from finals contention with more losses than wins, KENTA turned heel and joined New Japan’s villainous Bullet Club faction. Joining the crew in their beatdown of retired fan favourite (and former best friend) Katsuyori Shibata, KENTA incurred the wrath of the fans to a blistering degree.
His rambling promos, in ring taunts and continued antagonising of Shibata increased a fan hatred that hit an all new level at Wrestle Kingdom 14 when he ruined Tetsuya Naito’s victory celebration. He has since taken to social media to demand royalties every time the GTS move is used, understandably miffed that some fans think he took the move from CM Punk. Smugly smiling in the face of fan outrage, KENTA’s transformation into a total scumbag has made for very compelling viewing.
