10 Wrestlers Who Absolutely Love Annoying Fans
8. Taichi
Mr Black Mephisto seems to infuriate long time wrestling pundit Dave Meltzer more than anyone and he’s not alone. Portraying a sleazy lounge singer, Taichi works a style high on shenanigans in New Japan, a promotion still lauded for the seriousness of (most of) its singles contests.
Cheating relentlessly, cutting arrogant promos that border on delusional and using manager Miho Abe as a human shield, Taichi gets booed all over the world. His time wasting tactics irritate many also, with some believing he takes the cowardly aspect of his persona too far. His interference in the matches of stable boss Minoru Suzuki over the years eventually lead to a long running go away chant at his expense in Japan.
Since going heavyweight in 2018, Taichi has been a frequent thorn in the side of beloved double champ Tetsuya Naito. The 2’s feud last year culminated in a ferocious clash at Power Struggle. Fans loudly supported Naito during his match closing destruction of the blonde streaks enthusiast.
A 2 time NEVER Openweight champion (without a single successful defence mind you), Taichi’s colourful heel schtick will no doubt continue to tick viewers off when New Japan returns to our screens.
