8. Becky Lynch – WWE Raw Women’s Championship

On Night 1 of WrestleMania 36 Becky Lynch retained over Shayna Baszler with a roll-up to retain the Raw Women’s Championship she’d won at the previous WrestleMania from Shayna’s close MMA buddy Ronda Rousey. This would be Becky’s last match for some time as shortly after the event she announced she was pregnant on Raw. She declared in a promo she was relinquishing the title and awarding it to Asuka who had won the Money in the Bank briefcase the previous night for a shot at the title. But this wasn’t always the plan.

In a conversation on The Bellas Podcast Becky spoke how she wanted to lose the title to Shayna at ‘Mania: “I actually thought that I was going to lose the title at WrestleMania, which I also pitched. But, you know, plans change.” She also mentioned how when she first discovered she was pregnant she pondered whether she could participate in a quick squash to lose the title the right way but that idea was quickly shot down too.

It would have helped Shayna immensely in getting over on the main roster had WWE pulled the trigger on Becky’s idea of Shayna going over. Shayna was dominant in NXT as a two-time NXT Women’s Champion but was struggling on Raw to get the same kind of push without Paul Levesque’s guidance/booking.
