10 Wrestlers Who Actually WON On The Way Out

2. The Undertaker

Are we all really convinced that the Boneyard Match will be the end for the Deadman? Fingers crossed. The Undertaker has had one of the most legendary careers in the history of professional wrestling, but much of his post-Streak ending work has pulled the curtain back a little too far, exposing an ageing man with a broken-down body. Wrestling fans want to remember The Undertaker at his phenomenal best, not struggling to put two and two together against Goldberg.

Arguably the highlight of WrestleMania 36, The Undertaker vs. AJ Styles was way better than it had any right to be. The whole 'Taker concept lends itself to cinematic matches but that doesn't guarantee quality, and quality was what this provided. Styles (and, to a lesser extent, Gallows & Anderson) was the perfect foil for the Phenom, adding enough magical athleticism to the sinister surroundings in which the match took place.

And, of course, The Undertaker was victorious. Not many get to go out with the arm raised but 'Taker well and truly deserved it, especially when one considers the dross he had to put up with in those early years. Kamala? Giant Gonzalez? A fake Undertaker? A smile-inducing win in what should be his last match was absolutely the way to go.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
