10 Wrestlers Who Are In The Wrong Promotion

7. Ricochet

Ricochet’s recent WWE Intercontinental Championship win was considered by some to be a glimmer of hope for the guy in the world’s largest wrestling promotion, but don’t hold your breath. The company hasn’t exactly done a decent job of booking that title in the last five years, and it hasn’t done much for Ricochet either. The smart money would be on Ricochet holding the title for four months, defending it twice, and eventually dropping it to someone like Ridge Holland. The high-flyer will probably get another Money in the Bank slot, but don’t expect him to do much outside of, you know, all the insanely impressive high spots.

Ricochet is right at the top of can’t miss prospects that WWE has somehow contrived to miss. Even if the promotion rights the ship and gives him a nine-month IC Title reign filled with thrilling defences, it isn’t enough. At this point, WWE doesn’t deserve to make the most of the insane talent that Ricochet possesses.

Where would he be better suited? Will Ospreay’s ascension to the heavyweight division in NJPW shows that there is a ladder of opportunity there, while the obvious AEW links would also be made. A wounded Ricochet returning to PWG also has plenty of legs. Either way, no promotion on the planet would waste the guy like WWE has.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
