10 Wrestlers Who Are In The Wrong Promotion

6. BUTCH

What the flamin’ flip is going on here?

When the Triple H Era of NXT was unceremoniously ended in a sh*t-shower of neon colour, things didn’t look good for Pete Dunne. The Bruiserweight was one of the best pro wrestlers on the NXT roster, that isn’t up for debate, but it was difficult to see a fit for him in a company openly looking for bigger dudes. One of the shortest and leanest guys on the roster, it didn’t look good for Pete Dunne.

Still, it didn’t look as bad as ‘Sheamus and Ridge Holland’s snotty mate with a wacky name’, did it?

There is some ironic quality to the entire BUTCH deal, but Pete Dunne is too good a performer to be steeped in an ironically good gimmick. He should be manipulating digits in AEW, PWG or anywhere else. There is no bad fit for Pete Dunne, with the exception of gurning while dressed as a turn of the century Brummie pauper.

Called BUTCH.

BUTCH.

Tyler Bate, you best watch your back, young Master.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
