10 Wrestlers Who Are The Best In The World At Exactly ONE Thing

7. WALTER: Chops

@WalterAUT

WALTER is a meat and potatoes wrestler who proves that wrestling need not be an excessively complicated artform, even in this uber-athletic era. "Throwback" is a problematic term as it connotes outdatedness, and WALTER certainly isn't outdated, though his game revolves around taking classic ideas and techniques that have worked for half a century and moulding them to fit modern blueprints. He'd be just at home headlining Madison Square Garden with Bruno Sammartino as he is trading blows with a state-of-the-art action-wrestler like Tyler Bate today.

Offensively, the big Austrian is all slams, sleepers, suplexes, and chops. That said chops have become a bigger part of his matches than anything else in his arsenal is fitting: nobody does them better.

Only Kenta Kobashi and Wahoo McDaniel come close historically. WALTER's chops aren't mere transitional strikes, but weapons-grade blasts designed to rend flesh and crush ribcages. Many an opponent has left a match against 'Der Ringgeneral' with their chest looking like lasagna. There's a showmanship aspect to it as well, with crowds shhhhhh'ing for the deep, echoing thuds these blows make, giving the Imperium man a huge in-ring hook.
