2. Terry Funk

At the age of 73, Terry Funk has, once again, come out of retirement. The crazy old Texas Bronco refuses to stay down and quite frankly it’s a miracle he can walk never mind wrestle. In 1989 at the age of 45 he was considered old when he was waging war against Ric Flair in an I Quit match. By now he’s practically fossilised.

Which isn’t to say that Funk wasn’t a great wrestler. He was and is, and there’s a reason he has survived as long as he has; the Funkster was able to adapt. When ECW and IWA Japan introduced him to deathmatches he embraced it and became the crazy old man that we all love to this day.

You only have to watch Funk stagger around the ring, blood pouring down his face and an evil glint in his eye to see that this is a man without limits. A man who will put his own body on the line in an attempt to deliver. It doesn’t seem to matter that he’s a softly spoken veteran behind the scenes: when he steps between those ropes he becomes a living nightmare, and even at the age of 73, you can just be glad he isn’t coming for you.
