10 Wrestlers Who Became Successful After Getting Repackaged

3. Kane

Before being saddled with the right gimmick, Glenn Jacobs went under several weird stage names: The Christmas Creature, Unabomb, and most notably, Isaac Yankem, DDS., and the fake Diesel. Most, if not all of these gimmicks failed miserably, with the Fake Diesel receiving a particularly negative response from the audience. If he stayed with either one of those last two gimmicks, he would never have been such an important player during the Attitude Era. Thankfully, Jacobs€™ career experienced a 180 degree turn when he was transformed into the Undertaker€™s half-brother, Kane. Dressed in full-body wrestling attire and wearing a mask, Kane was one of the most intimidating wrestlers to ever step in a WWF ring. He made fire come out of the ring posts, he could Chokeslam people with one hand sometimes, and he manhandled his opponents so badly that even the biggest and toughest of the WWF€™s top stars were afraid of him. He didn€™t need to speak because he had Paul Bearer to do all of his talking for him at first, which allowed him to concentrate on devastating his enemies wherever and whenever possible. He was the Big Red Monster/Machine, and he was very good as his job. Kane has had an incredibly successful career, winning the WWE Championship, ECW Championship and World Heavyweight Championship once each, has won the Tag Team Titles an impressive 9 times, and has held several other awards as well. Despite being booked rather questionably in the last year and a half, many people still look back at Kane€™s early career, i.e. 1997-ca. 2003, with profound nostalgia, having enjoyed watching Kane demolishing everyone in his path.
