10 Wrestlers Who Became World Champions At The WRONG Time

5. Bray Wyatt

Drew McIntyre Right Wrong WWE Title

On paper, winning the top prize less than two months out from WrestleMania should be a blessing. It defo wasn't for Bray Wyatt. Yes, he did have shock value when winning out at Elimination Chamber 2017, and Bray did bag a tidy payday for working a main title bout on the biggest show of the year, but his title dream was never built to last.

Vince McMahon was stumbling around looking for something new almost as soon as Wyatt won the thing. Randy Orton would beat Bray at 'Mania, then McMahon landed on Jinder Mahal of all people. The (negative) hysteria surrounding Jinder's ascent ensured that Wyatt's 49-day run as champ was forgotten.

Bummer.

Bray was one of WWE's most creative souls, and he had been for years by the time Chamber 2017 rolled along. Seeing him get his flowers was lovely, but then writers mucked it all up by looking past Wyatt when they should've been looking to him.

He was the victim of a boss who didn't really know what he wanted.
