10 Wrestlers Who Burned EVERY Bridge On The Way Out
2. Bret Hart
No other performer was more screwed by the company than the Best There Is, the Best There Was and the Best There Ever Will Be.
Hart was unlike anyone else in WWF. He had incredible technical skill and a strong connection to the fans that ushered in a new era of the company, which allowed for stars without the most impressive physiques to become top players.
Bret's departure from the company will forever live in infamy, as wrestling has never seen a more publicised and well-documented messy divorce from the company. It all comes down to Hart's rivalry with Shawn Michaels, his jump to WCW, and the ever-so infamous Montreal Screwjob - which has almost become a wrestling persona in itself.
After some time suffering frustration with his rival Michaels, and a great offer from the opposing company WCW, Hart made the decision to make like Hogan and split from WWF for greener pastures. However, after a concern that he wouldn't drop the WWF Championship that he held at the time, the World Wrestling Federation's authority chose to manipulate the narrative and cheat Hart out of the belt by famously ringing the bell after Michaels locked him into a Sharp shooter.
An open spit on McMahon, a trashing of the ring-area and significant vocal displeasure was only the beginning. Up until the hatchet was buried and he returned to the company in 2010, Hart had no problem openly voicing how much hatred he possessed for Michaels, McMahon and the company itself.
