Renowned as one of the great mischief-makers of the nineties, Shawn Michaels must have butted heads with creative a million times, and given how fearful those heads were of losing him to WCW, he probably came out on top more often than not.

Most of this kind of stuff has been kept behind closed doors, but one of thing of which we're pretty sure is that the Heartbreak Kid's backstage antics put paid to Vader's chances of winning the WWE Championship at SummerSlam 1996.

HBK was said to have taken concerns about the former WCW star's stiff in-ring style to the creative team, effectively telling them that he wasn't happy about having to lose to such a careless opponent.

Unsurprisingly, it was Vince McMahon's favourite who won the ensuing stand-off. Michaels retained his belt at SummerSlam, and Vader - despite being a hugely over figure - goes down in history as one of the best wrestlers never to wear WWE's biggest prize.
