10 Wrestlers Who Butted Heads With WWE Creative (And Won)
6. Ric Flair
Ric Flair has often been described as the Muhammad Ali or Babe Ruth of professional wrestling, which is why it was seen as such an affront when then-WCW president Jim Herd suggested a change of image in 1991.
He wanted his company's biggest name to drop the whole Nature Boy thing and become a Roman Gladiator, apparently even encouraging him to shave off his trademark bleach blonde hair to appear more tough and menacing.
Flair wasn't having any of it, and point blank refused to go along with Herd's plans, a stand-off that eventually saw him stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship and then fired from the company altogether on the eve of the Great American Bash.
Sounds bad, but consider how the future 16-time world champion spent the next year of his career. He signed a fat contract with Vince McMahon, won the 1992 Royal Rumble and then defended the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. That has to be a win.
