10 Wrestlers Who Could Be The Jokers In The AEW Owen Hart Tournament
4. Miro
Miro is difficult to book. Tony Khan is in an unenviable position.
As exceptional as his act is, he isn't quite a guaranteed main event PPV draw. At the same time, you can't just beat him because so much of his act would be lost. He is equipped with monstrous physical attributes and a terrifying presence. If he's on TV, he has to win, but it doesn't feel like his "turn". He underscores the prohibitive flaw in the win/loss rankings system and is in stasis as a result (his filming a pilot obviously has something to do with this also).
In short, he's too good to be the Lance Archer mandatory first TV challenger, and not quite a PPV challenger.
The Joker isn't necessarily a debutant; Hangman Page has won it twice as a roster mainstay, having done so on the second occasion to mark his return from paternity leave. Miro earned rave reviews for his work in 2021 and is greatly missed by every AEW fan. He's not divisive. He's the exact sort of wrestler that everybody gravitates towards: a badass sh*t-kicker whose work is convincing, who is excellent at measuring the slightest vulnerability, and has a superb grasp of a one-liner threat.
The Owen Hart Tournament is exactly the vehicle with which to get Miro back over - he's done the TNT picture and there are others ahead of him in the World title scene - and a match against Samoa Joe would be an irresistibly cool hoss fight.
