10 Wrestlers Who Could Be The Jokers In The AEW Owen Hart Tournament

3. Deonna Purrazzo

The Joker might not necessarily advance to the second round.

This seems counterintuitive - why create hype for a mere quarter finalist? - but there's a certain logic to such a development, provided the losing wrestler is given a great deal in the match itself. The Joker has been established as a wrestler demonstrably capable of winning a big match (Hangman Page), or at least the big match before the big match (Ruby Soho et al.).

If the Joker itself is automatically important, purely through precedent, then defeating the Joker, irrespective of who it is, gives a heel valuable bragging ammunition.

Dr. Britt Baker - who seems unlikely to miss a pay-per-view, no? - would weaponise this scalp as well as anybody. She had conspirators against her, and she still made it to the final. What chance does [opponent in final] have?

Etc. etc.

As for the Joker, Deonna Purrazzo deserves better than she got with a match against Mercedes Martinez that AEW didn't bother to promote outside of the match graphic, most Baker matches get a big reaction, and they're both good friends desperate to wrestle one another.
