10 Wrestlers Who Could Give CM Punk His First AEW Loss

With Punk only having so much time left on the clock, it’s reasonable to say that rematches shouldn’t necessarily be his first priority. An exception could be made for this, though. It’s a match we saw a couple of times in WWE, but that failed to headline two PPVs in favour of John Cena vs John Laurinaitis and The Big Show.

Needless to say, we’d expect AEW to do this properly. So much has happened in the careers of each guy since they last did battle. They have a ton of history but have been - presumably purposefully - kept apart since both signed with Tony Khan. For fans of quality wrestling, it’s hard to imagine they won’t renew hostilities at some point.

Danielson has been booked like a killer in AEW, but after taking his first loss to Hangman Page, he might feel the need to regain momentum quickly, and doing to Punk what Page did to him could be just what the doctor ordered. Punk’s best AEW matches thus far have been stiff, surly, and violent - that’s certainly something Danielson can provide.

There’s basically no way this wouldn’t be a good match, but with a solid build and the prominence WWE failed to give the guys, it could be an all time classic.
