10 Wrestlers Who Could Have Been Main Eventers With Better Gimmicks
4. Chris Kanyon
After years of hard work, Chris Kanyon finally broke out as a star in WCW. The innovative performer became one of the company's hottest young talents and most entertaining heels, but the promotion tanked before he could reach the main event.
He came to WWE as part of the Invasion, taking a role as DDP's lackey in a one-sided feud with The Undertaker and Kane. He was overshadowed and squashed, but shortly after the program ended, he suffered an injury. During his recovery, he came down with an infection that nearly killed him.
Despite the ready-made story about Kanyon coming back from severe illness to return to the ring, WWE barely utilized him. He spent a lot of time competing on Velocity, with an angle where he sang a Boy George song and took a brutal chairshot to the head from Undertaker serving as his most memorable Smackdown appearance. The "joke" was made at the real-life expense of Kanyon, who was gay.
The star was fired in 2004 and spent the rest of his life trying to get back into WWE.
