10 Wrestlers Who Could Win Their First World Title In 2021

5. Will Ospreay

Big E WWE Champion
NJPW

As far as endorsements go, turning heel on Kazuchika Okada ahead of a big match in the Tokyo Dome is a pretty big one. Will Ospreay is on the path that Jay White walked just a few short years ago, betraying the Rainmaker before beating the same man at NJPW's biggest show of the year. Just over a month later, White was the IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

Does The Assassin have what it takes to walk that same road? Ospreay has the ability, obviously. His G1 Climax performance was astounding from start to finish, proof if proof were needed (it wasn't) that Will Ospreay has a major role to play in New Japan's heavyweight division. The defeat of Okada and subsequent alignment with The Great O-Khan and Jeff Cobb were beefy cherries on top.

2021 might come too soon for a Will Ospreay IWGP Heavyweight Championship run, but it wouldn't be entirely surprising either. Not many people get to win that most prestigious belt, although the reigns of White and EVIL suggest that the days of Okada-domination may be over. Does Will Ospreay etch his name into the history books in 2021? Don't bet against it.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
