10 Wrestlers Who Couldn't Pull Off Interesting Gimmicks

5. Bobby Roode

Maybe this is a bit premature - after all, Bobby Roode has only been in NXT for a couple of months, and his debut match featured an entrance worthy of any superstar. Maybe it's also unfair - Roode has been proving for years that he's a great in-ring talent.

Nevertheless, it's hard to shake the feeling that the greatest theme song in the company may have been wasted on the 39-year-old Roode. It took him a long time to get to NXT and he deserves a fair shot, but with his decided lack of charisma, the song is definitely the high point of the act.

Even if Roode is Shinsuke Nakamura's next opponent after the Samoa Joe feud is over, and even if he wins the NXT Title, he's still on the cusp of his 40s. When (or if) he makes it to the main roster, his shelf life will be pretty limited. A superstar with years in front of him, a flashier style, and more personality might have been better set up with the "Glorious" gimmick - perhaps Andrade "Cien" Almas?
