10 Wrestlers Who Couldn't Pull Off Interesting Gimmicks

3. Lord Tensai

After being fired from WWE, Matt 'A-Train' Bloom made a career for himself in Japan. Over the course of the next seven years, the rechristened Giant Bernard would become a multi-time IWGP Tag Team Champion and challenge for all three of the major heavyweight titles in the country. When WWE came calling in 2012, though, he came back to the States.

Bloom was given the gimmick of 'Lord Tensai', a former WWE star who had gone to Japan to find success, and had now come back to dominate the company. He got a superstar's treatment, with an intriguing costume, a special entrance, and a "worshipper" in the form of current Japanese star Kazma Sakamoto. He scored several squash victories en route to what was supposed to be a big push, and even picked up a TV win over John Cena.

His matches, though, didn't measure up to his push. His bouts were typically bad styles clashes, and before long, he was losing more often than he was winning. After sending out a racist tout directed toward Sakamoto, he rightfully became a glorified jobber.
