7. Ric Flair

In the spring of 1993, ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair hosted a brief talk show called ‘Flair for the Gold’.

His Four Horsemen comrade Arn Anderson was usually sat at the bar in the background whilst Flair’s valet/French maid Fifi (Flair’s now real-life wife) would clean the set. The reason these segments came to be was because Flair was under a strict ‘non-compete’ clause after leaving the WWF in February 1993. WCW still wanted to capitalise on Flair though, so had him conduct interviews with Flair for the Gold. He would interview big-time talent like Sting, Davey Boy Smith and Steve Austin/Brian Pillman when they were The Hollywood Blonds.

Flair for the Gold is most famous - or infamous - for The Shockmaster’s hilarious debut, where he tripped over the set with his Stormtrooper helmet falling off.

Flair also provided commentary on a number of matches in the meantime, like Barry Windham’s match against The Great Muta at Superbrawl III for the Big Gold Belt, until he was able to return to the ring and wrestle at Clash of the Champions XXIII in a tag match with Arn against The Hollywood Blonds.
