5. Speedball Mike Bailey

‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey has demonstrated his immense promise and potential on the independent circuit for years, making him one of Canada’s best modern day wrestlers. But he’s been barred from climbing the ladder any further since 2016.

That year, he was stopped at the border attempting to enter the US from Canada to work a show for Evolve, where it was found he had no working visa and subsequently was banned from entering and competing in America for five years. Bailey was in the process of securing a visa at the time through his work with CZW, but the process was going too slow, so Bailey chose to take his chances and continue working, not wanting to miss out on wrestling for Evolve. In unfortunate circumstances, as soon as the ban expired in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, making travelling problematic as well as fewer wrestling events being run than ever before. Hopefully Bailey will get his shot with AEW shortly, with Bailey and Kenny Omega speaking openly how they’re hoping for a rematch to their Pro Wrestling Guerrilla 20 minute thriller back in 2015.

Bailey has said recently regarding his future:

"I could teach full-time or I could keep travelling, or I can go to Japan full-time, or I can sign with any major company. Whatever makes the most sense at the time is what I'll do."
