10 Wrestlers Who Couldn’t Legally Wrestle!

4. Yokozuna

WWE Hall of Famer Yokozuna was an enormous individual at his peak, once being billed as the "biggest Samoan wrestler ever".

His last match for the WWF was at Survivor Series 1996 in a traditional Survivor Series elimination match in which he squared off against fellow big man Vader. The WWF were gravely concerned for Yokozuna around this period, with his weight only increasing with every passing month. It was only through Vince McMahon continuously believing Yokozuna when he told him he would drop weight that he remained on the active roster for as long as he did. The WWF sent Yokozuna home after Survivor Series and put him on a strict exercise and diet program, wanting and hoping to save his life.

It still wasn’t enough to get medically cleared; he failed a physical with the New York State Athletic Commission that prevented and barred him from wrestling in that state. As a result, the WWF had no choice but to let him go in 1998, with the WWF not wanting to be liable for any potential heart issues.

Yokozuna competed on the indie circuit following his release in states where physicals were easier to pass, where his weight ballooned to a staggering 760 lbs until his untimely passing in 2000.
