Back in late 2021, a lot of wrestlers seemed to give up. They didn’t stop going for it in the ring; if anything, the subject of this entry over-compensated for his terrible and meaningless creative direction by going to war and marking his body red so that he had something, anything to show for it.

A culture emerged, however, in which WWE wrestlers seemed to stop caring about repercussions. The old “walking on eggshells” culture no longer existed; virtually everybody of renown publicly buried the Survivor Series concept. Drew McIntyre meanwhile, before he turned it into a career-making gimmick, took to trolling on social media.

Back in October 2021, WWE plotted a novel story in which the question was asked: can Big E and Drew McIntyre co-exist ahead of their upcoming match?

On both October 4 and October 18, the rivals teamed up against Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler. It wouldn’t be remotely surprising, if it was revealed that Vince McMahon simply forgot about the first encounter. Not that you cared at the time, much less three years later, but Big E and Drew could in fact co-exist. They simply won both matches.

Rest assured, Drew registered his disgust throughout the world, tweeting “Well I am a sucker for first-time matches”.
