8. Kane

While guys like Kevin Nash and Scott Hall could consider themselves over—and therefore worthy of a WrestleMania main event—at a particular point in time, someone like Kane would be due such a spot for the sheer longevity of his career with the company.

Kane’s been a staple part of the mid-to-upper card for the better part of two decades now, appearing in 17 matches at the biggest show of the year. And while he's faced the likes of The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, and The Shield at the PPV, his most major taste of championship glory at WrestleMania was an 11-second win over Chavo Guerrero for the ECW title in 2008.

Realistically, one of his meetings with The Undertaker could conceivably have closed out ‘Mania. Their clash from 2004 was made all the more special as it marked 'the Deadman’s return, but if Kane’s debut had been brought forward a few months and seen their first match take place at WrestleMania 13 (rather than the following years’ Tyson-headlined show), then that match could easily have been big enough to go on last.

Plus, it would likely have been better than the Undertaker vs. Sycho Sid main event we got instead...
