4. Christian Cage: Knight Fight

Knight Fight wasn't too dissimilar from Christian Cage's day job in that it involved performers dressing up in elaborate costumes, assuming roles, playing characters, and attempting to batter the urine out of each other in showy fights.

Rather than a soapy, scripted simulation of hand-to-hand combat, Knight Fight was effectively big-budget LARPing. Competitors would deck themselves out in armour, shields, swords, axes, and other gear appropriate to their characters, whether they were playing a Viking berserker, Roman warrior, or member of the Knights Templar.

Billed as "Medieval MMA" during its original run, its initial run lasted for eight episodes until one fighter walked away with the $20,000 prize.

Here's a clip of Christian, the host, talking about the competitiveness of this souped-up version of Deadliest Warrior:-

Cage's new role on AEW Dynamite has fortunately involved fewer brushes with feudal weaponry thus far.
