Savio Vega was a dependable midcard guy before being a dependable midcard guy was in fashion. If the concept and booking strategy were around back then, Savio would have taken part in multiple Money in the Bank ladder matches without winning one, and more than likely would have had a couple of Intercontinental or United States Championship reigns to boot.

Vega's first Royal Rumble appearance came in 1996, where he entered the match at number 12 - and lasted 12 and a half minutes - before being eliminated by Vader. A year later Savio returned, but not for long, lasting less than half a minute before being dumped over the top by eventual winner Stone Cold Steve Austin. It was Austin who eliminated Savio in 1998 too, although the Caribbean Sensation lasted a more acceptable nine minutes before that.

1998 was Savio's final Rumble, but 1996 wasn't the first for the man born as Juan Rivera.

Rivera's first incarnation in the WWF was as Kwang the Nina, and his first Rumble bow came in 1994. Kwang entered fourth, lasting almost six minutes before being hurled over the top by Diesel. In 1995, Kwang was eliminated by another man who had entered the Rumble under different personas - Sione.
