10 Wrestlers Who Got Hit With A Car (And WHO DID IT!)

7. Jerry Lawler (By Eddie Gilbert)

A product of its time in concept, execution and outcome, the decades-old footage of Eddie Gilbert cutting through Jerry Lawler with a car in a USWA arena parking lot loses no impact on endless rewatch. Mainly because it's terrifyingly real regardless of the charming commentary somewhat underselling the brutality of the moment.

King Of Memphis Lalwer was paired the recent WCW escapee (and self-proclaimed 'King Of Wrestling') Gilbert in his home territory after Gilbert's temper getting the better of him after he was fired by on-screen gaffer Eddie Marlin. Leaving in his car after striking Marlin, he did so after mowing down Lawler after 'The King' had come to make the save.

The spot (well worth your time) was realistic enough that local police were called by concerned viewers and Lawler himself had to quickly appear and explain that he was fine, save for a hip legitimately injured in the dangerous stunt.

A violent upgrade to an otherwise fairly pedestrian wrestling programme, the attack at least poured gasoline on a fire that wasn't blazing beforehand. broadly justifying the risk as worth the reward.
