10 Wrestlers Who Had Electric Chemistry (But WWE Did Nothing With It)

CM Punk and Edge were singularly phenomenal in the ring as well as on the mic. That’s why it’s heartbreaking these two never got to have a big-time rivalry when they were in WWE together from 2006-2011. They were never on the same brand long enough for them to clash. But in the few interactions they did share they demonstrated some spirited chemistry together.

There was a Cutting Edge segment in 2007 on Raw before they participated in the Money in the Bank match at WrestleMania 23, where they intensely went face-to-face and shared some mic time in Punk’s hometown of Chicago. It was a glimpse of what could be one day.

Cut to a year later Punk cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase (that he won at WrestleMania XXIV) on Edge on an episode of Raw to win his first World title, with Edge selling his GTS finisher tremendously. This would have been the perfect moment to kick off a feud between the two but Punk had been drafted to Raw and Edge stayed on SmackDown.

In the run-up to Bragging Rights 2010 they managed to have a brief interpromotional match on SmackDown, which popped the crowd huge in moments before the match ended in chaos when what felt like the entire WWE roster interfered.

Even now you clamour to see them in the ring together one day. They too wish they had more moments in the ring together, given they’re fans of each other, with Punk even recently complimenting Edge on his comeback (and abs) on Twitter.
