10 Wrestlers Who Held The Belt Their Way
3. Cody
If Cody is driven by anything, it is to demonstrate that he is a superstar worthy of being a World Champion, which he was unlikely to ever get the opportunity for back in WWE.
When Cody won the Ring Of Honor title in 2017, he carried himself as worthy. He was serious, driven, and confident.
Much like many of the greats before him, including his Hall of Fame inducted father, Cody needed a new way of standing out. He needed to put his own stamp on something most wrestlers seemed to overlook, so he could demonstrate how dedicated he was to his craft, not only just as a wrestler, but as a character.
On Saturday 2 September 2017, Cody unveiled the 'Ring of Honor,' which he would use in lieu of the title belt, later tweeting 'I'll bring the belt if I feel like it.' This illustrated Cody as a champion with finesse, a champion with class, a champion who knew how to think outside of the box.
