Ring Of Honor has always had a strong cult following. Not only is there much love for the promotion, but also for the wrestlers who have literally battered themselves all for entertaining the fans. One wrestler from the company's foundation years who earned the fans' respect for his willingness to disregard his body, is Nigel McGuinness. He had had a strong outing as the Pure Champion in 2005, but couldn't quite topple Bryan Danielson for the top spot.

Eventually, McGuinness became Ring of Honor World Champion, but did so in spite of the fans' support. With the ROH fans being loyal diehards who won't take any stick against their favourite fed, Nigel McGuinness did the best thing he could to prove how he couldn’t care less about what they thought: he wore his Ring Of Honor Title backwards. It literally looked as if he was saying being the champion of the company was a load of old arse.
