10 Wrestlers Who Knew They Were DOOMED On Day One

6. Phantasio

You'd be forgiven for wondering who the heck Phantasio even is/was.

The so-called magician worked exactly one televised bout for the WWF on the 16 July 1995 edition of Wrestling Challenge. That squash match win over Tony DeVito wasn't really why he was doomed though - it sucked, but it wasn't the main reason Phantasio's intro to the promotion was a disaster.

According to Bruce Prichard on his podcast, this wannabe magician accidentally set fire to the Gorilla Position and almost killed him. Phantasio was experimenting with some liquid fire backstage when he set a nearby curtain ablaze and nearly caused the entire high school gym ('95 was a dark time for the fed) to be evacuated.

The gimmicky newcomer irked Prichard and several others with his antics then bombed in-ring during his big moment. It was a quick one-two punch of misery for everyone involved, and there was no way Phantasio was going to last long afterwards.
