10 Wrestlers Who Left WWE & Became World Class

5. Drew McIntyre

When Drew McIntyre left WWE in June 2014, he brought a whole new meaning to the phrase 'world class'.

Brought on to the SmackDown roster in August 2009 as Vince McMahon's so-called 'Chosen One', McIntyre seemed destined for a world title run. He achieved this. Eleven years later. His first proper go on WWE's main roster saw him squander endlessly, minus an Intercontinental Championship reign that didn't do anywhere and that bump during Extreme Rules 2014's WeeLC match. Literally nobody enjoyed the story arc Drew had vs. Teddy pissing Long.

Being let go in the summer of 2014 couldn't have worked out better for 'The Scottish Psychopath'. Immediately jumping back into the landscape of the Glasgow-based Insane Championship Wrestling, his second run as the company's Heavyweight Champion - which Drew turned into the World Heavyweight Championship - lasted 378 days.

Away from his now-former home promotion, Drew Galloway - as he was then known - wrestled everywhere possible, winning every championship possible. From the IMPACT World Championship and the WCPW World Championship to the EVOLVE Tag Team Championships and the Open The Freedom Gate Championship, Drew redeemed himself to such a seismic extent that WWE rehired him, made him a two-time and first British-born WWE Champion, and legitimately presented him as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all-time.

Touché, Drew. Touché.
