The Von Erichs are one of the most legendary wrestling families of all time, but unfortunately they're known almost as much for their history of family tragedy as they are for their history of excellence inside the ring.

Chris was the youngest in his family full of second-generation stars, all of whom went on to great success in their father's company, World Class Championship Wrestling. But unlike his older brothers, who were all very muscular and well-conditioned, Chris was just 5' 5" and topped the scales at 160 pounds.

His small stature, combined with severe asthma and a degenerative bone condition that made him incredibly injury-prone, kept him from becoming a full-blown superstar. Chris still got work because of his name, but it was clear early on that he had a difficult road ahead of him.

Sadly, he was a lot like his brothers in that he abused drugs, and he also ended his own life at a tragically young age - partly because he was still reeling from his brother Mike's death, and partly because he was disappointed in his own career.
