10 Wrestlers Who Most Defined A Generation

2. John Cena - The PG Era

While Lesnar perfectly embodied everything that Ruthless Aggression was about, John Cena has done exactly the same with his generation€”though the PG era is right at the other end of the spectrum. Cena€™s family friendly, superhero-esque €œNever Give Up€ gimmick is exactly what the current PG-rated product needs in order to resonate with its chosen demographic. The proof of that statement lies in the fact that this guy made the company over $100 million in retail in 2010 alone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGIqAiUGdLI And just like so many before him, Cena€™s suitability to the spirit of the times saw him achieve great success in a WWE ring. His accolades include 15 World titles, two Royal Rumble wins and€”perhaps surprisingly to some€”three PWI Match of the Year awards. His situation is similar to that of Hogan€™s though, with many fans criticising his basic moveset and €œFive Moves of Doom€. But with Cena still competing at the top of his game, he looks set to eclipse his predecessor€™s achievements and could well go down in history as the biggest star of all time. Love him or hate him, and there are plenty of people on either sides of that fence, you can€™t argue with the fact that John Cena has truly defined a generation in the PG era.
