Think of the heat!
With this entry, it's important to point out that MJF cannot get far into the tournament. This Cup should focus more on expressive wrestling rather than heelish antics, and letting MJF's typical abrasive attitude ride through the brackets wouldn't be the best idea.
That doesn't mean he can't dip his toes in.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman simply uttering or performing anything slightly disrespectful would result in nuclear heat. That's something AEW can take full advantage of, especially if they pair him up with a babyface in one of the first matches.
Imagine an early bracket showdown with MJF performing his regular schtick and maybe even crossing a line, only to get the boot from a fan-favourite. The pop generated would be excellent, and it would be a great way to highlight early on that this is a cup dedicated to the memory of Owen Hart, rather than a place for the bad guys to run their mouths.
