10 Wrestlers Who NEED A Huge 2024

5. Drew McIntyre

Is Drew McIntyre the unluckiest man in wrestling? 2020 was a stinker for us all, but McIntyre’s career-crowning moment occurring in an empty performance centre still feels cruel. Since then, there have been nearly-man vibes around the Scottish warrior, with ‘Mania 37, Clash At The Castle, and Crown Jewel all feeling like matches he could and even should have won, but didn’t.

With contract extension talk rumbling away, the situation seems obvious for McIntyre: WWE need to make it worth his while to stick around. There’s no doubt the company want him, but he has utility player vibes at present, someone who can slot into a main event at will but isn’t anywhere close to being The Guy.

The power would seem to be in Drew’s hands - but is it really? For all that he’s a terrific wrestler and a more than solid promo (and in spite of his extensive indie background), he feels distinctly WWE. Placing him on an AEW show would take some significant reshaping.

If WWE has its business in order, they’ll do the necessary to keep Drew around and give him what he wants. With a healthy contingent of top guys above him in the pecking order, though, it’s not impossible to see it going the other way.
