Yep. It just had to be here, didn't it?

After leaving behind the WWF and signing with rivals WCW in 1993, Fred Ottman was told he would be debuting in a War Games match at Fall Brawl alongside some of the company's most beloved babyface stars in Sting, Davey Boy Smith and Dustin Rhodes.

So far, so good.

Ottman's new character would finally be revealed to the world during 'A Flair for the Gold' at Clash of Champions XXIV as his partners were being interviewed by 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair. Then, as Sid and The Harlem Heat interrupted their conversation, Sting suddenly announced that their mystery partner would 'shock the world'...and he wasn't lying.

The immortal introductory tumble of Ottman through a wall, accompanied by loss of sparkly Stormtrooper helmet, was hilariously met with crickets. So, WCW attempted to repackage Ottman as a loveable oaf, but the ill-fated Shockmaster character would eventually be abandoned soon after this gaffe for the ages, and the wrestler would leave the company in January 1994.

He may not have become the star WCW were hoping for thanks to his dreadful Shockmaster debut, but Ottman did cement himself in wrestling history with this so-bad-it's-good debut and provided fans with a priceless unscripted moment for years to come.

We salute you, Shockmaster.
