10 Wrestlers Who Never Should've Signed With WWE
4. Jerry Lynn
Jerry Lynn was one of the most underrated wrestlers in the sport during his first decade of action. The athletic, high-flying star was overshadowed in an era where size was more important, but he still managed to find steady work in WCW, Japan, Mexico, and smaller territories. Finally, in ECW in the late '90s, a feud with Rob Van Dam opened the world's eyes to Lynn. He ended up become a major player in the company during its final days.
Lynn jumped to WWE after ECW closed, winning the Light Heavyweight Title from Crash Holly on Heat in his debut. Despite that auspicious arrival, his WWE career never went anywhere. During his four months of activity with the company, he competed on Raw only one time. After a half-year of inactivity, he was released from WWE and returned to the indies.
Lynn's WWE experience was short enough that it didn't harm him too much in the long run - he was available to join the fledgling Total Nonstop Action group, where he became a major player once again. Still, the way he was treated during his tenure with WWE gave credence to the idea that Lynn couldn't be a major-league star, a perception he battled his whole career.
