4. Kurt Angle

Many would expect an athlete fresh off winning an Olympic gold medal to be dubious about traversing to the world of professional wrestling. Most would expect him to carry himself in a stoic and serious fashion. Thankfully, Kurt Angle is not your typical Olympian.

Angle debuted as an archetypal “Better Than You” heel, taking typically babyface traits and amping them up to the point of obnoxiousness. It was his ability to laugh at himself, which was both the source of his humour and the reason he is so beloved by wrestling fans - just as willing to rock a tiny cowboy hat as his gold medals.

In tangling with the top talent, Angle carved out a niche as a comedy performer who could put on the best bout of the night on any card. It was Angle the goof who won over fans, with his milk-based slapstick, chickensh*t ways, and played up delusion of grandeur. Some of Angle’s most memorable skits came from musical moments, such as his rap battle with John Cena, trying to cheer Vince McMahon up with an acoustic rendition of "Jimmy Crack Corn", and who could forget “Sexy Kurt”.

Angle's career, accolades, and drawing power, were greatly forged by his knack for comedy.
