10 Wrestlers Who QUIT During WWE Raw
6. Mick Foley
The Montreal Screwjob had a monumental impact on the industry as a whole, paving the way for arguably the most successful and creatively compelling period in WWE history. But it was an incident that also left its mark on more than a few of Vince McMahon's contracted stars.
Away from the obviously p*ssed off Hart Family still plying their trade under the WWE banner, the legendary Mick Foley was also said to be mortified over Bret Hart's treatment during the controversial mani event and subsequently decided he wanted no part of the Raw that would follow the unanticipated finish to Survivor Series 1997.
Amazingly, as would be noted by Jim Ross later down the line on his Grilling JR podcast, Vinnie Mac was said to have been indifferent to the Mankind man's absence, telling the iconic commentator:
"If others want to go, JR, there’s no harm, no foul. If they want to go home and sort through this stuff, whatever, let them. We’ll have TV with whomever’s here. We can make that happen."
Of course, Foley would eventually return in the end, battling The Rock on a taping two days later. But instead of dumping a sizeable fine at the door of Mr. Foley - as he would do in other cases - McMahon welcomed back the hardcore legend with next to no punishment.
