10 Wrestlers Who Really Can't Catch A Break

3. Mustafa Ali

Who is the most under-utilised performer on the WWE roster? This is a favourite question of wrestling fans worldwide, with the usual suspects having their names bandied about. Cesaro? Shelton Benjamin? Chad Gable? All good answers, but there is only one definitive response to the question.

Mustafa Ali could be something very special for WWE. An incredibly talented in-ring performer, Ali has shown an ability to cut promos more believable than most, especially coming from the heart of a passionate babyface. He has taken every challenge put in front of him, smashed every one of them, yet he remains a peripheral figure in the WWE landscape, by which I mean 'he wrestles on Main Event a lot'.

What could have been? Ali was slated to face Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35, but injury put paid to that plan. If he had stayed fit, would Ali still be plying his trade on Main Event? That is an impossible question to answer, but it is difficult to see Ali slumming it on a show nobody watches.

It is difficult to watch in the reality. Ali is a tremendously talented performer, one of the most talented on the roster, yet he remains missing in action for all intents and purposes.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
