10 Wrestlers Who Really Never Saw It Coming

7. Bret Hart

When it comes to Bret Hart and things the Hitman didn't see coming, two situations which immediately come to mind are the Montreal Screwjob and the heinous attack on the Excellence of Execution at the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame.

Then, well then there's Shawn Michaels' "Sunny Days" comment from a May 1997 episode of Monday Night Raw.

With Bret and his Hart Foundation cohorts stood in the ring, the Heartbreak Kid appeared on the tron to verbally berate his long-time rival. Throwing in a line about how Hart had recently "had some Sunny Days", Michaels was insinuating the Canadian and Tammy Sytch had been having an affair - all while Bret's wife and four children were at home in Calgary.

As Bret has discussed various times over the subsequent years, this "Sunny Days" dig caught him by surprise.

Playing on the real animosity that was by this point running wild between Hart and Michaels, HBK was supposed to throw some stiff barbs in the Hitman's direction. The problem was, Shawn - who some have since claimed was drunk during this promo - overstepped the line by making remarks that could harm Bret's family life.

The irony here, of course, is that Shawn Michaels was the one sleeping with Sunny back then, with Hart and Sytch never anything more than friends.
