10 Wrestlers Who Refused To Give Fans What They Came For

3. Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho doesn't like repeating himself. That's why he rebuffed the chance to reprise 'Y2J' in WWE and galavanted off to New Japan pre-AEW instead. It's why he ditched 'The List Of Jericho' gimmick when it was still hot, and it's why he tried something totally different during his 2012 return.

Back then, it seemed nailed on that Jericho's vignette-laden comeback would play out much the same as his 2007 one. Not quite. Rather than emerge looking like the world's sparkliest Gordon Ramsay lookalike to cut a stock promo, the crafty veteran decided to troll fans who were clearly delighted to see him again.

The results were sumptuous.

Jericho said nothing other than the occasional, "Yeah!". Slowly, the penny dropped with fans in attendance - some weren't sure what to make of the silent treatment, but some smiled and could see that the comeback king was playing everyone.
