10 Wrestlers Who Regret What They Did AFTER WWE
9. Austin Aries
Finally arriving in the big leagues in 2016, Austin Aries debuted on NXT in March to much fanfare. Being involved in a feud right off the bat, the future looked promising for the Greatest Man That Ever Lived.
Plodding along in NXT until he was sidelined with an injury, A-Double enjoyed a brief stint on commentary. Once healed, Aries debuted on 205 Live in a program with Cruiserweight Champion, Neville. The two continued to have matches throughout the spring of 2017, but Aries failed to capture the title.
After reports of backstage heat due to a poor attitude, Aries left the company in July of that year.
Aries quickly returned to Impact Wrestling and cleaned house by winning both of the company's main championships. Over the next few months, A-Double won and lost the Impact World Title numerous times before he entered a feud with Johnny Impact. The feud was presented as a shoot, with both men appearing on TMZ to air grievances.
At Redemption, Aries lost to Impact, but no-sold the finish, flipped off the crowd upon his exit, and never returned. The publicity stunt was said to have been carried out without consent from Impact Wrestling management and is considered one of the reasons Aries didn’t return after losing the title.
Since then, A-Double has been on the indies, and at his age, his window of opportunity of making it is getting slimmer. Oh, what could have been?
