10 Wrestlers Who Saved Their Careers TWICE With Gimmicks

Steve Austin was way more than macho toughness or anti-authority bad-assery. He had serious range as a performer, and that was evident when he was shoved together with fellow lost soul Brian Pillman as The Hollywood Blondes in 1993. By Austin's own admission, the team happened because WCW's braintrust didn't know what to do with either man.

In typical WCW fashion, they decided to split the team when they were getting over. Austin found the carpet whipped from beneath his feet once more despite seemingly saving his own skin, and he eventually left WCW with a bad taste in his mouth. A short run in ECW helped whet his appetite for something new, but he couldn't have predicted what was coming next.

'The Ringmaster'.

Only kidding (well, sort of), it was 'Stone Cold'. After treading water as a boots-n-trunks mechanical wrassler during his first year in the WWF, Austin developed his new character and it caught fire. When Vince McMahon finally latched on to the star he had, 'Stone Cold' became the biggest money-making success in company history and saved his career all at once.
