10 Wrestlers Who Should Never Have Made WWE Royal Rumble's 'Final 4'

10. Fake Diesel

After a few rough years, the 1997 Royal Rumble kicked off one of the most important calendar years in WWE history. As a result, the '97 Rumble was a much stronger field than years prior, with no less than 20 championship winners making up the 30 man field. Stone Cold Steve Austin was the controversial winner of the whole thing, running back in after elimination to outlast Bret Hart, Diesel, The Undertaker, and Vader.

That sounds incredibly strong on paper, but don't be fooled by the word 'Diesel' in there. This wasn't prime Big Sexy Kevin Nash, oh no. The Diesel who made it to the final four of the 1997 Royal Rumble (and was actually the final legal elimination, all things considered) was none other than Glenn Jacobs, better known as Kane, but also known as Fake Diesel and Isaac Yankem.

Fake Diesel didn't just luck out with a draw either. Jacobs entered the match at number 23, and lasted over 17 minutes before being thrown out by Bret Hart at the end, outlasting The Undertaker, Rocky Maivia, Mankind, and Vader, all of whom entered the match after him. Fake Diesel would continue to work live events, but this proved to be his final televised WWF appearance.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
