10 Wrestlers Who Should Never Turn Face

2. The Miz

Can we go ahead and consign the babyface experiments of The Miz to the bin of history? It just doesn’t work. The eight-time WWE Intercontinental Champion has perfected his heel persona after more than a decade in the company. Why mess around with that by making the guy a babyface? The only reason to turn him face is boredom, and boredom does not make for good creative.

Any hope that WWE had of Miz working as a babyface went out of the window in 2019. When his family was faced with the existential threat of a crazed Fiend, The Miz went into battle for the honour of Maryse and his children. Of course, he had to go through his entire entrance first, complete with wacky pointing and histrionics. Miz as a babyface will forever be remembered as a goof.

Which makes it all the more pointless to ever consider a turn again. The Miz’s inability to succeed as a babyface will forever be a curiosity, seeing as he is the embodiment of all that wrestling fans dream of. He is a lifelong fan who followed that dream to the main event of WrestleMania, so why is he impossible to cheer for? ‘Why’ isn’t always important. Miz is and should always be a heel. If it isn’t broke, don’t break it.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
