10 Wrestlers Who Stole Their Names From Porn Stars

9. €˜Whipper€™ Watson

wikiwikiThe name €˜Whipper€™ Watson either conjures up the (frankly disturbing) image of a man that refers to €˜it€™ as €˜The Whipper€™ or else it implies some other variation of lurid S&M shenanigans. ...And if €˜it€™ was the whipper...How exactly would he...Y€™know? I mean, would he, would he €˜whip€™ you with it? That€™s just...No. Google the guy. He even has the moustache. Either way, it€™s (hopefully) not something you€™d ever want to watch, regardless of how much you€™d had to drink. In reality, however, Canadian wrestling legend €˜Whipper€™ Billy Watson was so named because he popularized the Irish Whip (not because he had a big €˜whipper€™ - although he may have had one, we at What Culture are not privy to such information, you understand). He was, however, one hell of a great wrestler, as well a two-time World Champion. He was also famous for his contributions to charity. To the best of our knowledge, despite being the owner of a dubious moustache, he never actually did porn and (thankfully) he never, ever referred to €˜it€™ as €˜The Whipper€™.

I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction. I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long! If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it). I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work. Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that! Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?) Latcho Drom, - CQ
