10 Wrestlers Who VANISHED When ECW Died
6. Scotty Riggs
You likely remember Scotty Riggs mainly for his and Marcus Alexander Bagwell’s American Males pairing in World Championship Wrestling, or rather, for their irritating, albeit catchy, entrance theme.
Under the alias of Scotty Anton, however, Riggs was also part of ECW in its dying stages, debuting in the middle of 2000 as an ally of Rob Van Dam. Until he turned on RVD shortly after, in turn costing him his two-year undefeated streak.
Scotty’s tenure in ECW, largely spent as a hired gun within the Network stable, was short-lived, and he achieved very little; his biggest claim to fame is wrestling The Whole F’N Show at an August 2000 show inside the illustrious Hammerstein Ballroom. He lost, naturally, leading to his departure from the promotion after his final appearance that October.
Unfortunately, personal and health issues prohibited Riggs from pursuing much of a wrestling career after ECW. He went through a divorce and his father sadly contracted lung cancer. He did, however, find a brief slew of success in the Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling company, being a three-time TCW Heavyweight Champion and a one-time Tag Team Champion.
Prior to officially retiring in 2009, Riggs worked as both a bouncer and as a manger of a lounge in South Carolina.
